Whats in a pot ? A Pot is simply not just a device to hold a plant but also to make it grow well. A lot more goes into a pot, other than, of course the media ! There are things you should consider when you are buying a pot . These are :-

• Volume for roots vis a vis aesthetics.
• Do the roots need aeration?
• Drainage type : Slots or Rim or Raised bottom, Holes or Sieve.
• Suitability for the media you intend to use.
• Stability - (Approximate Center of Gravity with the plant).
• Thickness of walls.
• Wall Material type ? - Insulating vs Porous vs Aeration vs sterility .
• Heat conductivity.
• Stabilization of material towards Ultra Violet Rays. Non UV stabilized pots crack and fade in the sun.
• Optimization of shape for Space Management.
• And of course The Aesthetics !
